Item description

The KnuKonceptz FBT-40P patent design (D927,708) combines two functions, a battery terminal and in line fuse holder, into one product. Our engineers have cut a traditional battery terminal in half, insulated the two parts from each other, and linked them with two Mini-ANL fuses to create an all in one fused battery terminal.

The FBT-40P has four large compression ports. Any combination of 0, 2 or 4 gauge can be achieved. From the factory three of these ports accept 0 gauge and one port accepts 4 gauge. Additional compression fittings may be purchased to offer any combination of four connections. Two of these ports are fused and two these ports are non-fused at all times. The fused ports should be used for connecting your accessories while the non fused side can be connected to the vehicles factory wiring.

Speaking of factory connections, the FBT-40P does allow access to your OEM battery terminal via our TPA-POS terminal. Some simple modification to the FBT-40P smoked poly carbonate cover is required to allow access to this port.

The FBT-40 battery terminal clamps to your battery post with two insulated allen screws. These screws must be tightened evenly during installation to avoid binding or damage to the terminal.

Prior to installing, be sure you have room for the FBT-40. Minimum clearance required is 20mm.  Certain battery types lack the clearance required to mount the FBT terminals.

Usage

Power

Half Insulated / Half “Hot”

Each FBT-40P has two halves, each with two ports. One half is separated from your battery with the use of an insulator and is ONLY connected via the fuses from the “hot” or constant side.  Each of side of the FBT-40P has two compression fitting outputs that accommodate 0, 2 or 4 gauge battery cable.

The fused side should be used for connecting your accessories while the non fused side must be connected to the vehicles factory wiring. Speaking of factory connections, the FBT-40P allows access to your OEM battery terminal via our TPA-POS terminal (sold separate). Some simple modification to the FBT-40P smoked poly carbonate cover is required to allow access to this port.

The KnuKonceptz FBT-40N is the negative match to our FBT-40 Fused Battery Terminal. Specifically machined for the negative battery post, the FBT-40N has 4 non-insulated compression ports. From the factory three of these ports accept 0 gauge and one port accepts 4 gauge.

Compression Fitting Connections

Our compression fitting termination offers the highest level of surface contact area. Better connection means less resistance, which equals higher voltage to your system. These compression fittings also allow for multiple gauges to be used without any product modification.

Installation is simple, remove 5/8″ of jacket from your cable. Insert the cable through the compression fitting. Screw fitting into place and tighten with a wrench (Do not use pliers, damage to fitting may occur). .

Frequent questions

  • How is wire secured to this battery terminal?

The FBT-40 uses compression fittings to secure the cable. Compression connections provide a clean and incredibly strong connection To connect, trip the jacket off the cable; Insert the wire into the fitting; fold the copper strands as shown in the photo; Tighten the fitting into the block, compressing the cable into place. This results in 360 degrees of contact area, unlike set screw blocks that have just the one high pressure point. The Kompression Fitting allows more strand/block interaction, which results in less resistance and more current flow. KonFUSED System Introduction.

  • Is there a difference between the Positive and Negative top post terminals?

Yes, the Negative top post terminal’s opening is smaller in diameter so that it can not be mounted on the positive battery post and cause a reverse in polarity within the vehicle.

  • How can I connect 2 Gauge wire with these terminals?

The 0 Gauge port or ring terminal port can be used with a 2 gauge cable as well

  • Can I purchase additional compression fittings for this model?

Yes, additional fittings are available for purchase. They are $0.99 each

  • How can this terminal have a fuse when it is connected to the battery terminal?

With our patent design (D927,708), we have insulated half of the terminal from contacting the battery post. Please see our expanded schematic. The parts in red are insulators that stop current from flowing to the left side (as illustrated) of the terminal. Only by inserting fuses does this half of the battery terminal receive current.
