XXX XAK-2500 2500 watt 4 gauge Amp Kit

XXX is a brand I am unfamiliar with. Every once and awhile I see their kits on ebay, but this is the first time hands on. Cross sectional views of a power wire will tell you most of what you need to know, but the XXX cable had more to say. After removing the jacket and counting the ropes within the XXX amp kit, I measured the strands to determine the area. The XAK-2500 includes some 1225 strands of CCA, but they are the finest strands I have ever seen used in a power wire. Measuring 0.10mm, the 1225 strands make this 7.5 gauge cable labeled as 4 gauge. XXX includes an 80A fuse with this amp kit, which puts XXX in the same unsafe rating category as Legacy. Anyone connecting this amp install kit to a 2500 watt amplifier better buy some marshmallows! Ohm’s law will tell us that to produce 2500 watts we will need 173A!
As I prepared to cut into the XXX Interconnects, I could see the XXX RCA Cable had a foil shield wrapped around the signal leads within the RCA Cable. Each channel separate of the other. Careful to strip just the jacket, I was able to uncoil the foil and see a twisted inner core. Inside were two side-by side, speaker wire like conductors that had been twisted and then foil wrapped. XXX was the only brand to not use a coaxial style RCA and even though the conductors were small (29 gauge each) I determined them to be made of copper!
The 6 other amp installation kits reviewed all had some amount of speaker wire. The XXX-XAK-2500 came with no speaker wire at all. This hurt its overall value when compared to Bullz Audio and Legacy. These three kits all have similar sized power wires and Legacy seems to be the lesser of the evils because it includes more.
Conclusion – Determining order placement for this review has been difficult. Rating this kit on value, it would be last. It lacks items that other kits include and the wire is mediocre. However, comparing ONLY the components the XXX XAK-2500 amp kit includes, you’ll find it 5th.
